Break, oh break, long break.

Its that special time of year here at UW, summer break. Kind of. Its the period we have in between summer quarter ending and the next year's fall begins. This yea SEEMS abnormally long with a big 38 day break. Pretty cool. So far have done absolutely nothing in terms of productiveness but is I guess that could be what break is for. Haven't posted on here in a ridiculous amount of time but now I shall break that with this amazing post!. OK. One thing I have been working on is designing a natural pond area for a family member's yard. I have the basic concepts drawn out and have been working out a good portion of the technical kinks but still alot of work to be done. Assuming we get this thing built in the next year it could be a great thing to put on a future resume'?
Perhaps. Its fun none the less. Will post pics as soon as I have something worth showing that everybody wont laugh at. Until next time, enjoy break! Real Estate Web Site Hosting

Vegetation Representations

Its been a while since my last post, and I must confess, that mostly is a result of pure laziness. I've been enjoying the summer to a degree of going all out on my ceramics class and watching every single Harry Potter movie. Lots of fun but not that much free time. Should I have told you that? Anyways onto the reason for this post that's been in the works for a while now.

A WORLD OUT OF AUTO-FOCUS

autofocus
To get things started. We're on a small summer break. Just got done with finals last week and they grades are NOT IN YET. Fortunately? Not feeling extremely confident in any of them. The one exception was Plant Biology. Turned out okay. The class is curved to a 2.7 and I ended up with a 3.0. Not bad I suppose.

In other news.

FINALS: Plant Biology, Art History, and Forestry! OH MY!

Bad Wizard of Oz reference? Probably. Its finals week here at UW and its just beginning to get fun. Haven't had to pull an all-nighter in a while since I've been out of studios but this week may call for a break in the streak. The one thing I'm wondering through all of this is: What in the world was I thinking when I signed up for art history? Big mistake. Oh well. Summer Quarter has the hopes of being something better. Right now I am signed up for a ceramic throwing class (just for fun) and a sustainable market finance stuff required for the B-LArch. (Bachelors of Landscape Architecture for those of you who don't know). Also planning to sign up for a week long trip out to the Elwah River area to get some first hand experience on dam removal effects on the ecosystem.Promises of excitement. Until then, wish me luck on these finals! Real Estate Web Site Hosting

RESTRICTED

This weekend went on another one of those required field trips. It wasn't so bad but as near as fun as the first one. I blame this on the lack of ocean experiences on the latter excursion. We essentially tromped through a series of old growth forests in a range from douglas fir/ cedar old growth to some dry ponderosa pine old growth. Fun stuff.

The quarter wears on.

I cant really tell if this quarter is going by fast or drudging along slow. The forestry class I have neglected to a degree and bio is more difficult than I originally anticipated, and Art history....well...art history is art history. Thats all I can say about that.

In the bio class the curriculum is much different than I originally thought it would be. The lectures consist of Professor Richard Olmstead going through two or three families giving us a list of characteristics that we are to memorize. This is complimented with a dash of phylogenetic history that to me is somewhat useless for the reason of its still such a new science that the rules we are given are literally being changed and re-written on a daily bases.
